The ultimate travel guide to Agadir

How about a Moroccan city known by warm weather, fish meals, clean beaches and natural cosmetics ??

Yes it’s Agadir. I’ll be talking in this post about one of the most popular destinations in Morocco, which is also my hometown, so it’ll be amazing to share with you the wonderful places and dishes I’ve so far experienced and only a residential will know.

If you are ready, pack up your clothes and let's take a short tour in Agadir right nowwww.

What to see ?

Agadir Oufella

“Agadir Oufella” is “The old Kasbah” in Tamazight. On this Kasbah, it was written ‘God, Country, King’ to remind the country’s currency. If you like walking, you can take it as an opportunity to discover more the Kasbah. Otherwise, you can take a bus. When you are finally at the top, you’ll see a stunning view of the whole city, especially at night when the lights are on, you can also ride or take photos with a 🐫 and buy some souvenirs. So this is the first place I recommend since it’s the new beginning of the city.

Marina

You can have a coffee or grab a meal in one of the numerous cafes and restaurants in the Marina while enjoying the beach view. I would recommend the sunset or the sunrise times. There are also stores ( Zara, Stradivarius, Lips…..) and water activities such as boat cruises, fly in the sky, jet skiing, knee boarding and surfing.

"While destiny ruled the ruins of Agadir, its construction is entrusted to our will and our faith."

Beaches

Crystal blue water, golden sand and sun lights are all you need to enjoy a peaceful and refreshing swim. You can choose according to your preferences and the activities you want to do from la Marina to Essaouira hahaha. If you want a calm and uncrowded place, I’ll recommend 25,

Aghroud or Imi Ouaddar. There is a lot of local snacks and restaurants selling fish dishes, tagines( Try it in Aourir restaurants Hmmmm) and snacks.

"لئن حكمت الاقدار بخراب اكادير فان بنائها موكول الى ارادتنا و ايماننا"

Souk El hed

Either you are a shopping addict or no, you’ll enjoy visiting the biggest urban souk in Africa “souk el had” which means “Sunday’s market” in English. It contains more than 6000 stores for different categories; clothes, vegetables, fruits, spices, Argan and subsidiaries …..It’s popular not just because of its size but also its unique architecture and design. This souk isn't just about selling goods or services but also about the coziness, home vibes and especiallythe hospitality of its people. The sellers are welcoming and opened to both Moroccan and international tourists ; They enjoy talking to buyers, giving them advices about the city and also inviting them to lunch (which is usually made by the seller himself).

How about some adrelanine ?

Souss Park

I bet you have watched maoukly and maybe you even  wish you could climb trees like he does 🐒🐒🐒. Good news, with Souss Park, your wish will come true.

It's a tree climbing amusement park for allages. It offers levels from one to more than 10 meters of height. And of course after all the levels you’ve done, you’ll be amazingly knackered, thirsty and hungry but don’t worry souss park has already a kiosk so u can enjoy some 🍪🍪 and water on the comfortable tables which are scattered everywhere in the park. You can also bring your food from the outside (what my family did because the prices are relatively high). It’s a clean and calm place since it’s built in an eucalyptus forest so you can challenge your friends, spend a date with your partner or enjoy a family day.

Crocopark

It contains more than 300 Nile crocodiles, a botanical garden, a playground, a restaurant and a very welcoming staff. The park takes you in a unique experience from your arrival by entering in a crocodile mouth and also the design of the basin and the buildings. For a photo addicted person like me, you have the perfect backgrounds for your shoots

X-tream park

It targets both people who are brave, fearless and adventurer and the little kids, so that all of your family members find it joyful. Once there, you can ride a boat on a water pool, go through a horror room and a bunch of other interesting things to do. But what I've really liked was the fly chair (Don't mind the name I give it) that makes you fly in the air nearly five meters from the ground. While on the sky, you can see the city's lights, touch the sky and maybe try to catch the stars (If you were like me). I can't describe that feeling exactly but i know that it was fear, adrelanin combined with freedom

What to eat ?

Seafood

Le petit pêcheur has three subsidiaries, in Talborjt, Salam and Aghroud. They are specialized in fish: paella, seafood pizza and other delicious dishes. If you want to experience a more traditional ambience and encounter locals, you can go to the restaurants near to the seaport. Actually I have a special bond with this place since it holds the memories of the first lunches we ate together as a family. I still remeber the steam of fish on the grill, my little sister trials to say the word "fish" and me having a crush on the waiter. So you can guess why seafood

Tagines

You must have heard of tagines, we use sauces, vegetables, meat or chicken and of course mococcan spices (For Soussi people, we do use a good amount of pepper). Tagines are made everywhere but Nehda restaurants are the most popular tagines makers in Agadir ( but of course they can't compete with me) and it’s always crowded because of their good service. So make sure you go there early like 12 for a lunch.

I hope this guide has been helpful enough to give you an overview of this modern Moroccan city. If you have any questions or other recommendations, feel free to write them in the comments below.
